Rural Health Workforce Development Scholarships

Because of the dire shortage of dentists, pharmacists and behavioral health specialists in rural Illinois, every year, IRHA awards scholarships to students, who plan to practice in a medically underserved rural setting Illinois.  Recipients are notified in early December for the spring semester.

 Dental Scholarship Sponsored by Human Health -$1,500

Criteria:  Must be a student currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student in Dental School, with an intent of working in a Rural Health Dental Shortage Area in Illinois and who was raised or has roots in a rural community in Illinois. Apply here.

Pharmacy Scholarship Sponsored by

IL Rural Health Association-$1250 

Criteria: Must be a student currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year Pharmacy student, with an intent of working in a Health Professional Shortage Area in Illinois and who grew up in a rural health professional shortage community in Illinois.  Apply here

Graduate Level Social Work/Behavioral Health Scholarship

Sponsored by the IL Rural Health Association -$1000

 Criteria: Must be a student currently enrolled their FINAL year of a Graduate Level Social Work or Behavioral Health Program, with an intent of working in a RURAL MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL SHORTAGE in Illinois and grew up in a rural health professional shortage community in Illinois.  Apply here
